Goodbye Viaduct!

The end of an era is finally here; Seattle's Alaskan Way Viaduct officially closed January 11, 2019. The elevated highway has been a Seattle landmark on the city's waterfront since opening in 1953. The viaduct will soon been replaced with the new SR99 Tunnel.

This photo was shot a couple days after the closure in Old Town showing where crews had already demolished the north bound onramp.
